Mickelson in position to order up a win with his Royale with cheese

Farmers Insurance Open: Final Round

If CBS had their way, it’s certain they would want Tiger in contention as well; but we have all the makings for an exciting final round. How about these story lines: Can Phil hang on by not being Phil the Thrill? Can Bill Haas continue to be steady Eddie? Can Hunter Mahan get a little Ryder Cup redemption down the stretch? Will Bubba be the one crying instead of Steve Stricker at the end of the day? Has Anthony Kim finally got his priorities straight? And is “Johnny Vegas” still on a roll?

Phil most certainly felt like he made bogey on the par five eighteenth, but Bill Haas actually did make bogey and now the two are paired in the last group. Haas had 31 putts yesterday, that won’t get it done on Sunday.

T1        Phil Mickelson            -12
            Bill Haas                     -12

Here’s a great quote from Amy Mickelson:

@sdimegUSATgolf Steve DiMeglio
RT @EllingYelling: Always-entertaining Amy Mickelson today on her hubbie's diet: "I think that boy needs his meat."

T3        Hunter Mahan             -11
            Bubba Watson             -11

Both made eagle on the last hole to set this pairing. This group will threaten down the stretch.

5          Anthony Kim              -10

Kim had a pedestrian round of one under par yesterday, but it was enough to keep him within arm’s length of the leaders.

6          Jhonattan Vegas          -9

Vegas out dueled Tiger and continues to ride the wave of the momentum in the final round.

T7        D.A. Points                 -7
Brandt Snedeker         -7
Kevin Sutherland        -7
Dustin Johnson           -7
Rickie Fowler              -7
Fredrik Jacobson         -7

Nice group here with plenty to root for, just too far back.
