Anyone who has ever played golf understands that it is difficult to concentrate on your entire game when your swing is unraveling. Clearly, Tiger has a lot of swing thoughts swimming around his head; and when you repeatedly fail at making the swing you intend. It will eventually take its toll. What Steele was referring to is the fact that at some point, Tiger was mentally exhausted, dis-spirited, and out of the tournament. Therefore, I don't think he was grinding over a four footer.
