Member for life

Despite his ascension to world's number one, Lee Westwood continues to show his loyalty to the European tour by staying a full-time member. In years past, many golfers have abandoned the European tour at the first hint of success and jetted for big dollars in the US. Today, the European tour rewards Westwood his achievements and loyalty over the past eighteen years by making him a member for life. Great move by the European tour as Westwood is as sound an individual as you can find.

If you don't know what kind of person Westwood is, consider this story. After Phil out dueled Westwood at the 2010 Masters, Westwood waited patiently to send his regards to Amy Mickelson. It was the first time Amy had been out to watch Phil since she was diagnosed and was receiving treatment for breast cancer. Yet Westwood, despite missing one of his best chances of his life for his first major waited and waited and waited. Just so he could give Amy his best regards. Class act.
